View Full Version : Sfx
Our CGI director Alexander Presthus is currently creating Earth, Mars, Earth's moon, Mars' moon Phobos as well as the Sun.
Mars is the first planet out, and our Matte Painter Thomas Dahl will now take the work a bit further and in to the 29th Century by terraforming and populating the entire planet!
Next out is Earth, before taking on the task of creating the Gatekeeper station!
The New transporter effect for the movie is finnished and is now being debated in The Ready Room by the Production Team, and animated by our CGI animator Joakim Palmkvist. The effect will later be presented on the Portal Page.
4Fathers have constructed a new transporter effect for the Gatekeeper movie.
1. The object dissolves into small balls
2. The balls fall to the ground - disappearing in sparks just above the transporter pad.
3. A few balls bounce, fall again, and disappear.
1. We had our first SFX make-up meeting yesterday in Stockholm and welcome RobinL on the team. He was presented with the first 10 tasks, and is in addition welcome to produce his own alien designs. Robin will work with our Norwegian make-up guy Eddy, and may even educate others to assist.
2. The 2008/2009 list of CGI/Concept Art/Matte Paintings/props are finished - end will be debated on our MSN meeting with all our artists Sunday August the 3rd at 18.00 Scandinavian time. Are you on any of these teams, make sure Thomas has the e-mail adress to be used for this meeting. If you can't make it, please give Thomas a PM with a suggestion for a personal meeting at a later time. BUT - remember that some of the tasks may be spoken for at that point. ;)
Presenting Robin (left) and Eddy (right)! :)

Another make-up specialist joins the team. Ole Elias was top of his class in 08/09 and will be working with both SFX make-up and traditional make-up:

The 29th Century Borg Cube is designed by ZardoZ, and will be posted on The Bridge shortly! :)
SFX make-up artist Ole Elias will most likely be pulling out of the production as he feels he want to prioritize paid employment.
As you all know NOBODY involved in a fan based production will get paid for their work. The production will only pay for the materials used. So why are they still part of the production you may ask?
It so happens that most of the artists working with CGI, animation, make-up, costume, concept/matte and so on, have started within fan production. To get a big job you need a portfolio and this is the perfect way to show what you can do AND that you can work in a team during an entire movie.
In this case you will be involved with real actors from Star Trek and Star Wars, and several of the most central fan based actors in the world (some of them who got hired for the new Star Trek movie because of their production). This is naturally far more impressive than just producing a show reel. It truly is an effective way to get started, and may open doors you never even dreamt of.
...and let's not forget! It's great fun! ;)
